The leaves may be turning gorgeous shades of orange and gold, the sunsets may shine more beautifully as the days grow shorter and the tradition of displaying twinkling lights may be right around the corner. But there’s something that shines even brighter than all of these things…the power of credit unions. And, as luck would have it, this is our season to celebrate all the things our movement stands for with International Credit Union Day and CU Kind Day!
International Credit Union Day
The big day is October 17, 2024! On this day, credit unions around the world celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. It’s been an annual tradition recognized on the third Thursday of October since 1948, which makes this year the 76th anniversary of ICU Day.
The theme is “One World Through Cooperative Finance.” It speaks to how credit unions and other community-based financial cooperatives are still bringing people together in these divided times to grow financial inclusion and well-being for all. With this in mind, credit unions are invited to embrace the uniqueness of our business model, our principles and our ability to unify our communities through accessible and affordable financial resources.
And what makes us unique, exactly? It’s our position as not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member-owned cooperatives. Credit unions pool their members’ assets to provide low-cost loans and other financial services in the best interest of the members. The credit union movement’s cooperative spirit is embraced by 403 million members served by more than 82,000 credit unions in 98 countries worldwide.
This ICU Day, let’s shine a light on the lives and communities that have been improved by our movement. After all, the credit union difference is alive and well in the dreams that become reality for those we serve each and every day.
For more information on ICU Day 2024 – including how you can educate your communities, ways to participate and ideas to ramp up your celebrations – please visit the World Council of Credit Unions website.
CU Kind Day
Kindness…it’s such a simple and effortless gift to give to others. That’s what CU Kind Day is all about – using our resources as credit unions to promote kindness in the world.
On October 14, 2024, Vizo Financial will be joining the likes of many other credit unions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania to participate in the CrossState Credit Union Association’s observation of CU Kind Day. The idea for this day – where credit unions are invited to volunteer their time, make donations or even provide financial education – started at a credit union in Minnesota and has continued to expand to leagues across the country.
As a corporate, Vizo Financial will be holding our annual Day of Service on October 14, which just so happens to coincide with CU Kind Day. However, we are so excited to embrace this celebration and show that credit unions are truly devoted to our philosophy of “people helping people.”
If your institution is interested in joining CrossState’s CU Kind Day celebration on October 14, I encourage you to visit their CU Kind Day page. Here, you will find registration information and plenty of resources to help you get the word out to your communities, including the CU Kind logo, project ideas, a sample press release and social media materials. The site also has plenty of ideas for your CU Kind Day festivities!
Whether you decide to help out at a food bank, hold a fundraiser to give money to your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital or host a financial literacy event, the ultimate goal is to spread awareness of the positive impact the credit union movement has on our communities through simple acts of kindness. I can’t wait to see your celebrations come to light!
Let the Celebrations Begin!
Credit unions, this is OUR time to shine – our season to show our true purpose in action. By sharing our concern for community and our inclusive, democratic nature, we can be a light of hope in this world. May your ICU Day and CU Kind Day celebrations be bright…now, let the merriment begin!
As a corporate credit union and financial institution, Vizo Financial makes it a priority to offer financial resources to our members. Curious to know more about these resources and how to find them? Good – we’d hoped you would be!

In case you didn’t hear, October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! This is an international initiative that educates everyone about online safety and empowers individuals and businesses to protect their data from cybercrime.
Even amidst large-scale data breaches and cyberattacks, Cybersecurity Awareness Month reminds everyone that there are simple and effective ways to keep your credit union safe online, protect your member/organizational data and, ultimately, help secure our world.
Vizo Financial is proud to celebrate and support this online safety and education initiative through the entire month of October. And because we love a good theme, we’re excited to share that this year’s (and every year from here on out) will be Secure Our World! This theme reminds us that there are simple actions we can take every day to protect our organizations, our members and employees from online threats.
With the theme in mind, Cybersecurity Awareness Month focuses on the top four ways to stay safe online:
Ready to take on Cybersecurity Awareness Month? Get more information and download the toolkit from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) website. Then, spread the word to your members and community!
Who doesn’t love Door Dash? When those hunger pangs hit, you have the ease of ordering exactly what you want through their platform, along with the convenience of having it delivered straight to your door. It’s the epitome of everything you could want from a third-party service, right?
Well, we hate to break it to Door Dash, but MY CU Services has a third-party service that is even better…for credit unions, that is. It’s our Third-Party Wires service, and it’s also a simple and expedient way to perform wires through the Federal Reserve with MY CU Services acting as the service provider.
About the Service
The process is very straightforward – rather than completing the wires through the Federal Reserve directly, your credit union can initiate transfers through MY CU Services’ streamlined and user-friendly online EFT platform.
MY CU Services will set up your credit union’s routing and transit number to serve as your Fed account within the EFT platform. During the initiation process, your credit union will select the third-party wire option, which will pre-populate your Fed account number.
The wire will then be directed to the Federal Reserve for processing as the sending institution. Finally, funds will be automatically debited from your credit union’s Fed account.
The Dashing Benefits
In addition to simplifying the third-party wires process, our service offers a variety of dashingly good benefits, including:
Open the Door to Third-Party Wires!
If you’re looking for a way to perform wires through the Federal Reserve, MY CU Services’ Third-Party Wires service has all the things you need: time-savings, efficiency and – best of all – convenience.
Are you ready to open the door to all the advantages our service has to offer? Contact us at sales@mycuservices.com to learn more, or even set up a time to talk to our team!
Vizo Financial will be closed on the following dates in 2025 in honor of the federal holidays listed below. These closings are in accordance with the Federal Reserve Bank’s 2025 holiday closing schedule. You can also find this information posted on the Holiday Closings page of our website.

Vizo Financial continues to make a positive difference in our local communities. Here’s a look at what we’ve been doing over the past few months and what’s coming up:
Vizo Financial Empowerment Grants Program
Recently, Vizo Financial funded a second year of Empowerment Grants with the CrossState Credit Union Foundation. This program was promoted in coordination with the CrossState Credit Union Association’s Fall Leadership Conference on September 5-7, 2024, and will continue to be shared with credit unions in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Funds will continue to be allocated on an annual basis to the state credit union foundations that serve the majority of Vizo Financial members within the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas regions. The program is intended to help natural person credit unions build financial literacy programs that benefit their membership.
Victory Junction’s Run to Victory Run/Walk Event
Vizo Financial was a Victory Lane sponsor of the Run to Victory run/walk event to benefit Victory Junction on September 14, 2024. Additionally, two staff members attended the event in-person and represented Vizo Financial at a Pasta Party the night before the race. Participants were invited to join the event either in-person at Victory Junction in Randleman, N.C., or virtually from their homes. Victory Junction serves children dealing with serious medical conditions and chronic illnesses. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with serious illnesses by providing life-changing camp experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, at no cost to children or their families.
Credit Union Sponsorships
Vizo Financial continues to support the credit union movement through various sponsorships:
Enhanced FiCEP
Vizo Financial is the sponsor of the CrossState Credit Union Foundation’s Enhanced Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP), which is offered two times during the year – once in the spring and once in the fall. This program creates a pathway for the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation and is designed for credit union professionals who are committed to helping members gain control of their financial future.
Foundation for Free Enterprise Education
Vizo Financial sponsored the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education, whose mission is to heighten the awareness of Pennsylvania’s youth about their future role in the American free enterprise system by delivering high-quality and practical hands-on learning experiences. The Corporate’s sponsorship provided two high school students with the opportunity to attend a one-week summer program to learn all about what it takes to run a business.
CrossState Credit Union Foundation Viva Las Vegas Sponsorship
Vizo Financial was a silver sponsor of the program guide for the recent Viva Las Vegas Nite to benefit the CrossState Credit Union Foundation. This annual fundraising event for the Foundation is hosted in conjunction with the CrossState Credit Union Association’s Fall Leadership Conference on September 5-7, 2024.
Carolinas Cup
Vizo Financial was a Happy Sponsor and donated a silent auction item to the Carolinas Cup on September 22-24. The event was hosted by TruStage and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation and benefits Victory Junction. Our SVP/chief financial officer also participated in the event, which was held in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Day of Service
Vizo Financial will be holding our annual Day of Service on October 14, 2024. Staff will have the opportunity to volunteer at one of several events being offered at each campus. Organizations we’ll be supporting during this year’s Day of Service include:
Financial Reality Fairs
Throughout the fall, Vizo Financial staff members have and will continue to participate in several financial reality fairs across Pennsylvania. These events have been held by various credit unions and organizations, including Belco Community CU, Lanco FCU and the Greater Reading Reality Fair Committee.
Financial reality fairs are designed so that participants can identify potential career choices and starting salaries, then complete a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, food and additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel.
Season of Hope Radiothon for Duke Children’s
The 30th annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals Season of Hope Radiothon to benefit Duke Children’s in North Carolina will be held on December 10-11, 2024. Vizo Financial will be a Spirit of Hope sponsor again this year. Last year, the CMN Radiothon raised $541,874 for Duke Children’s! Learn more about the Season of Hope Radiothon leading up to the big event, then tune into MIX 101.5 on December 10-11 to listen to heartwarming stories from the children and families that have been impacted by Duke Children's.

The most recent data from Gallup notes that only 30 percent of employees are engaged. By definition, an engaged employee is a person who is willing to consistently give their discretionary effort to accomplish tasks. They are enthused about their work and their workplace. Think about how enjoyable and productive our offices would be if we were to double or triple that number of engaged employees at our credit unions. Join SVP/chief culture officer, Joe Bertotto, as he shares practical approaches to increase engagement. Recently, Vizo Financial received their second consecutive Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award. This global honor is given to organizations who put employee engagement at the center of their strategic plan.

A tabletop exercise is a walk-through of emergency procedures with your credit union’s key personnel about what could happen in a real-life incident. This live tabletop will test your credit union’s plans with a “mock” real-world example. How will your team handle the situation? Are you prepared?
This tabletop session is designed for multiple credit union team members to participate together. The session will break periodically for 5 to 10-minute intervals to allow time for team discussion regarding the tabletop scenario. The goal of this exercise is to test the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and your credit union’s security and risk plans.

Did you know there are approximately 11,651 financial technology startups throughout the United States, with many ranging all the way from person-to-person (P2P) and wealth management apps to stock trading and e-commerce sites? That’s according to a 2023 study conducted by Statista.
With the ability to deeply understand the ins and outs of both the financial and technology industries, these fintechs are positioned to grow even more in the coming years. In fact, they’re already profoundly reshaping financial services through innovation, member-centric value propositions, collaborative business models and so much more! That then begs the question: How many of these fintechs has your credit union looked at – 20, 10, even five? And moreover, how is your credit union embracing this evolving service landscape?
If you’re not sure how to answer either of those questions, that’s okay. We’ve got you covered! Vizo Financial is here to serve as your link to these fintechs.
During each 30-minute quarterly Tech Talk, we will showcase a few fintechs that we believe may bring benefits to your institution. We highly recommend that you use these 30 minutes to seek out the technology and innovation that may help revolutionize how you serve your members. And you never know, one of these may end up holding the key to innovation for your credit union because if your credit union isn’t already looking at fintechs, then you could be falling behind. Your members are expecting the latest modern solutions, after all, so make sure you’re prepared to provide them by joining us for Vizo Financial’s 2024 Quarterly Tech Talks!
