On March 9, 2025, the Vizo Financial family lost one of our own. Ed Fox, who passed away at age 81, was a former CEO of Mid-Atlantic Corporate, one half of the entities that make up the Corporate today. Ed was a well-loved and respected member of the credit union movement, serving as a trailblazer in many ways. At this time, we remember Ed’s incredible life and legacy.
Not only did he grow Mid-Atlantic Corporate from a small corporate credit union serving institutions in Pennsylvania to a nationally recognized organization serving credit unions across the country, but he also paved the way for many of the innovative payment services we offer today, even starting our CUSO, MY CU Services. His distinguished tenure with Mid-Atlantic Corporate began in 1989 and continued until his retirement in July 2008.
His career in finance also included time at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and the First Pennsylvania Bank (now Wells Fargo), as well as several industry boards.
For those who had the pleasure to know Ed, they remember him for his kindness, wicked sense of humor and smart business savvy. Here are a few words from some members of the Vizo Financial staff in honor of Ed’s memory:
“I spent many years working alongside Ed Fox, so I was uniquely blessed to witness his ability to make confident decisions, his effective use of strategy and his keen eye for innovation, but, more importantly, his tenacity and devotion for this movement and all who were a part of it, especially his employees. He wasn’t just a boss to me – he was a mentor, a friend and part of the reason I am who I am today. I will never forget his kindness, his humor and his dependable advice. I’m eternally grateful for the incredible difference he made in my life. Thank you, Ed.” – Lori Gall, EVP/chief operating officer
“What can I say about Ed Fox? He was a larger-than-life personality with a mind for business and a sense of humor that would keep you on your toes. From the office to our hunting trips, Ed was such a big part of my life and remains a guiding influence in my work today. We spent a lot of time together and I’m so appreciative of the fond memories I have to look back on. Rest easy, Ed – fly high among the birds.” – Jeff Stoner, EVP/chief strategy officer
“I’ve been lucky enough in my career to have come full circle, working for Mid-Atlantic Corporate even before I joined First Carolina, which, together, became Vizo Financial. In that time, I worked under the leadership of Ed Fox and saw first-hand how his passion for our movement drove him to make decisions for the Corporate that we are still seeing impressions of to this day. I’m grateful for the pioneering he did and the legacy of leadership he passed down through his successors – myself included – to help us reach the great success we experience today.” – Fred Eisel, president/CEO
Our deepest condolences and heartfelt wishes go to Ed’s family and friends during this difficult time. As we remember Ed, we celebrate his leadership, dedication and lasting impact. Each memory serves as a reminder of the profound legacy he left behind for Mid-Atlantic Corporate, Vizo Financial and beyond.
It’s that time of year again! We want to share a quick update on our 2025 board of directors election.
The petition for nominations for the Vizo Financial 2025 board election expired on April 17, 2025, and no new nominations were submitted. The nominating committee submitted three nominees to fill the three open seats on our board of directors.
According to our bylaws, the directors are elected by plurality vote, except where there is only one nominee for each vacant position. As this is the case this year, we will not need a formal voting process, and the candidates will be approved during the virtual Annual Meeting on June 12, 2025.
Our bylaws also indicate that nominations are not allowed from the floor during the Annual Meeting, unless nominations are insufficient in providing one nominee for each vacant position, or circumstances prevent the candidacy of a nominee for a vacant position.
Therefore, at this time, the three candidates who will be confirmed as directors during our Annual Meeting in June are as follows:
Be sure to explore our Annual Meeting website, which is your go-to place for more information regarding the 2025 board election, biographies of the candidates, important dates to remember and more.
We look forward to seeing you at our Annual Meeting in June. Thank you all for your continued support of the Corporate!
At Vizo Financial, we aim to be more than just a vendor or a service provider. As a corporate credit union, we know that credit unions require more than just payment services or investment options – they need a partner that wants to see them succeed and can help them to reach their goals.
In that spirit, we’ve created several rewards programs that give credit unions perks just for supporting our organization and utilizing everyday services that we provide. Let us tell you more about our Education Rewards and Member Incentive Credit (MIC) Rewards programs!
Education Rewards Program
Here at Vizo Financial, we’re very committed to staying connected to credit unions and also connecting them to opportunities that further their education on current issues and trends impacting the financial industry. As such, we offer a variety of workshops, conferences and webinars on hot topics, including ACH, leadership, investments, economic updates, instant payments, risk management and more. And in 2025, we launched our Education Rewards program so credit unions and their employees can learn and earn in just three simple steps!
Participation
Credit union employees are encouraged to attend and participate in the webinars and events that we hold throughout the year to earn points.
Rewards
For every workshop, conference and/or webinar a credit union employee attends, points will be earned on an individual level and a credit union level. Over the year, we’ll keep track of points earned.
Prizes
To learn more about the program, including the rules, visit our Education Rewards Program page.
Member Incentive Credit Rewards
In 2023, Vizo Financial launched our MIC Rewards program as a way to show our appreciation for the support of our member credit unions. Through this program, the Corporate distributes a portion of our earnings to each capital member based on their usage of key services. The more key services used, the larger the dividend. Distributions are issued at the end of each year based on financial performance and with board approval.
In 2023, Vizo Financial gave back over $3.8 million to capital members via the MIC Rewards program. In 2024, that giveback increased to over $4.1 million.
As you can see, working with Vizo Financial sure has its perks. By simply using the services we provide, your credit union can earn all sorts of rewards, from education to dividends. These are just a few of the many ways we show our love to credit unions…see how you can get rewarded with Vizo Financial today!
Vizo Financial is pleased to announce that our 2024 Annual Report is now available on Zephyr, our online member access network, and on the Financials page of our website.
The compliance package includes the following documents:
We understand that credit unions need access to our corporate compliance package to fulfill their due diligence process; however, due to the sensitive information, we do not send this via email.
Credit unions must access Vizo Financial's compliance package via Zephyr. All Zephyr users have access to the compliance package, which can be found under the Vendor Due Diligence tile on the dashboard or via the Help Docs option under the question mark icon in the top right of the navigation bar. For your convenience, each of the compliance package documents are also available individually in the Vizo Financial Vendor Due Diligence section.
When the world is full of uncertainty as it is today, there’s still one thing you can count on…risk. In the credit union world, the risks are amplified simply by the nature of our business – financial transactions and member data.
But what are the top risks – those most prevalent to institutions like ours – in 2025? And in this time of great uncertainty, how can we prepare and protect against those risks? Vizo Financial’s SVP/chief risk officer, John Cuneo, dives into all the questions and more in his recent blog article.
Here’s a brief excerpt from the article:
Take a look at any headline these days, and there is one word that seems to be everywhere: uncertainty. And is it any wonder why? From security to liquidity, the threat of uncertainty is profoundly ingrained in every aspect of credit union operations.
Even though credit unions are not new to risk – just take a look at the past five years, the financial crisis, etc. – we remain a movement imbued by resilience. But the risks continue to grow in frequency, intensity and, sadly, cost. In fact, IBM has reported that the average cost of a data breach for financial organizations is approximately $5.9 million. Even in the name of prevention, Gartner predicts that cybersecurity spending among financial institutions could reach $212 billion this year.

Jeremy Jenkins - VP, data analytics, Vizo Financial
In March, I was blessed to rejoin the Vizo Financial team after a five-year stint as president & CEO of a credit union. It was tough to say goodbye to that family, but the opportunity to have a front row seat as your corporate invests in its membership by bringing forward new technologies to streamline credit union operations was just too appealing. The tech we see creeping over the horizon, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), could be game-changing when it comes to the greatest challenge I faced as a CEO – finding time. Specifically, time for management to develop and execute credit union growth strategies.
Vizo Financial members understand this struggle. Day-to-day operations more than fill the workday, and most credit union balance sheets simply can’t support hiring the many hands needed to make the work light. Just keeping up with the “must do” tasks often threatens work-life balance, if not placing it altogether out of reach. It’s easy to see how the energy required to pursue what the credit union “could do” is hard to summon at times, and as a result, we may just keep doing what we’ve always done.
But there’s renewed hope for the future. With the emergence of AI integrations that are poised to change the equation, credit unions are uniquely positioned to benefit.
A Solution That Supports the CU Mission…
Consider this…in the financial services space, does anyone do more for consumers with less resources than credit unions? Doing more with less is difficult, but there are advantages. Without question, credit union professionals have broader expertise across functional areas of the organization than their counterparts at banks. To be honest, the comparison isn’t even close. And when it comes to agility in the pursuit of efficiency, credit union leaders are exceptional. You’ve had to be. These characteristics make credit union leaders uniquely adept when it comes to the implementation of new tech, and that will serve our movement well in the era of AI.
Speaking of the movement, collaboration is our superpower. When I find myself across the table from one of our banking brethren, my favorite topic to discuss is how credit unions work together to make each other more successful. It often results in a “deer in the headlights” expression that, I must admit, I find entertaining. As credit unions, there is no reason for us to tackle anything alone, and the infusion of AI into our operations is no exception. We’ll develop solutions faster because we communicate better. And just imagine the implications that cooperation will have when it comes to data analytics. We won’t be locked into looking exclusively inward – we’ll develop opportunities to share information and grow together.
…And Solves Problems
If you agree that finding time in your operations is a critical need, and that as credit unions we’re uniquely positioned to solve that problem with AI, the question you may be asking is, “Okay, what next?”
For most of us, the answer is to learn. If, like me, you favored recess over math, the topic of AI can seem a little intimidating. For this reason, Vizo Financial has already begun providing our members with opportunities to grow their knowledge by learning from the experts in a variety of conference and workshop settings. On one such occasion, I had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Anthony Volpe, chief analytics officer with Vertice AI.
Dr. Volpe suggested the entry point for pursuing AI integration is understanding that, “AI is not an end unto itself. It is a means of doing the many things your members need you to do, but faster, more efficiently and still at the personalized level expected of credit unions.” He went on to explain that a basic tenet of assessing AI opportunities is to understand what constitutes AI. He offered the following test questions as a framework:
Undoubtedly, AI checks all these boxes.
Dr. Volpe went on to cite FICO scoring, which lenders have utilized for decades, as analogous to the efficiencies AI may bring to credit unions. Credit analysis dates to the late 1800s, but it wasn’t efficient until the Fair Isaacs model was founded in 1956. Imagine how laborious and time-consuming credit risk assessments would be without access to credit reporting. Credit scoring agencies, the “autonomous” resource in the analogy, serve as the means to an important end for credit unions, which is an efficient underwriting process. AI promises similar large-scale efficiencies in other areas of credit union operations, and it is happening rapidly.
Being able to distinguish between real AI solutions and legacy platforms that have been rebranded as AI is a good place to start. Credit union leaders also need to be working on their wish list. You should already be identifying the under-resourced areas of your credit union operations and beginning to evaluate whether AI solutions to enhance those resources might already be in the market. Doing so enables strategic planning around the opportunities AI will bring for your back-office and leads you to prepare your board of directors and staff to embrace AI as part of the credit union’s digital road map.
Vizo Financial continues to make a positive difference in our local communities. Here’s what we’ve been doing over the past few months:
Meals Around the Corporate
In January and February, Vizo Financial supported our local food banks with an initiative called “Meals Around the Corporate.” Staff were invited to share pictures or recipes of their favorite meals on the employee intranet to earn donations to their local food bank. Individual and Corporate donations totaled $2,453.19. Those funds were distributed to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Midwest Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
Carolinas Credit Union Foundation Awards Gala
Vizo Financial was the Cocktail Sponsor of the Foundation Awards Gala that was held on February 12, 2025, during the Carolinas Credit Union League LAUNCH Conference in Charlotte, N.C. This event showcases and honors tremendous accomplishments of credit unions and hero professionals in our industry.
Financial Reality Fairs
On February 26, 2025, staff members from Vizo Financial volunteered at the Financial Reality Fair hosted by Belco Community CU at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa. A member of our team also volunteered at the reality fair at Hamburg Area High School in Hamburg, Pa., on March 19, 2025, which was hosted by Reading Credit Unions. Financial reality fairs are an interactive financial education exercise for students that provides hands-on experience to help them identify their career choice and starting salaries, then complete a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing and food. Additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel are factored in as well.
Daffodil Days
In February, Vizo Financial employees had the opportunity to purchase daffodils or tulips in support of Daffodil Days for the American Cancer Society. Each spring, the daffodil serves as a symbol of HOPE for cancer patients. What better way to put a smile on someone’s face and, at the same time, put HOPE in the hearts of cancer patients?
Wine Me Up! Fundraiser
Also in February, Vizo Financial made a donation to the Wine Me Up! fundraising event to benefit The Credit Union Foundation of Maryland and the District of Columbia. The wine pull event will be available both in-person during the MD and DC Credit Union Association (MDDCCUA)’s annual convention in June, as well as virtually. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Foundation’s training grant program that provides tuition assistance to credit unions up to $150 million in assets.
Exploring Why Workshop Sponsor
Vizo Financial was the exclusive sponsor of the Exploring Why Workshop in partnership with the CrossState Credit Union Foundation on March 24, 2025. The Exploring Why Workshop is an experiential training program that credit unions and system partners can use to help employees connect to the credit union difference and discover new and better ways to drive value for their members and the organization. Through our sponsorship, the workshop was offered for free to all credit union employees across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The half-day virtual session was hosted by the National Credit Union Foundation.
Egg Stuffing for CMN Hospitals
On March 28, four Vizo Financial employees volunteered to stuff plastic eggs for The Hershey Company’s 35th Annual Egg Scramble, which benefits Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pa. CMN Hospitals is the credit union movement’s charity of choice nationwide, and their mission is to help make sure every child receives the best possible care.
Love the Hill
On April 11, Vizo Financial employees volunteered with Love the Hill in Harrisburg, Pa., to pull weeds, lay mulch and pick up garbage. This inner-city initiative cares for one of Harrisburg’s most needy neighborhoods and Love the Hill is committed to living alongside those in desperate need of real love and comfort while empowering one another to meet those needs.
Habitat for Humanity Credit Union Build
Vizo Financial collaborated with a group of credit unions in Greenville, S.C., on a special project to build a home for a credit union member through Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. Credit unions involved in this project include The Carolinas Credit Union League, Sharonview FCU, CPM FCU, South Carolina FCU, Truliant FCU, Spero Financial CU, MTC FCU and Greentville FCU. Our president/CEO and other Vizo Financial employees participated in a volunteer day on April 11 to work on framing and putting up tresses at the Habitat home. Then in May, our president/CEO will also participate in a CEO volunteer day to work alongside the other CU CEOs on this project.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Walk for Children’s
Vizo Financial is once again sponsoring this year’s Walk for Children’s event to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, which is a CMN Hospital. The event, which is celebrating its 10th year, is being held in person at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, as well as virtually, on Saturday, June 7. This event has been raising money and awareness for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since 2016 and has brought in over $7.5 million for medical education, Child Life resources, social work and music and art therapies, among other things. Good luck to all the walkers – including some of our staff – who will be participating in the 10th anniversary Walk for Children’s event this year!

They say age is just a number. But for scammers, age is an opportunity to prey upon a person's vulnerabilities. That's why older individuals are most at risk for financial exploitation, and it costs millions (yes, millions) of dollars per year in losses for these individuals. You may be wondering what your credit union can do to help your members fight elder financial abuse. That's what this session is all about! Cindy will walk you through common signs, schemes and suspects to help your staff and members armor up against elder financial abuse.
